APPLE CRISP
5 baking apples
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. raisins
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. honey
1 c. rolled oats
1/3 c. less 1 tbsp. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 c. apple or orange juice

Core and chop apples; leave peel on. Coat apple pieces with lemon juice. Toss apples with 1 tablespoon whole wheat flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and raisins. Put 1/2 apple mixture in a greased 9x9 baking pan.

Melt honey and butter together and mix with rolled oats, remaining flour, cinnamon, allspice and nuts. Spread 1/2 of mixture over apples. Repeat apple and topping layers.

Pour fruit juice over all. Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes, covering part way through if browning too rapidly. Serves 9.

NOTE: By itself, this isn't very sweet, but it goes well warm with ice cream.
