SHREDDED WHEAT BREAD | |
2 c. boiling water 2 c. crumbled wheat biscuits 1 tsp. salt 1/3 c. sugar 1/3 c. molasses 3 tbsp. shortening 1 yeast cake, dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water 6 c. flour to make firm dough Pour boiling water over wheat biscuits. Add salt, sugar, molasses, and shortening. Cool, then add yeast and flour. Knead, place in greased bowl to rise 1 1/2 hours or until doubled. Punch down, knead again, place in greased loaf pans and let rise until doubled. Bake at 40-50 minutes, 350 degrees for loaves, 375 degrees for biscuits. |
