OLD FASHIONED TEA CAKES (MY
MOTHER'S RECIPE)
 
2/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. milk
3 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs, beaten
3 1/2 c. flour (approx.)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar together and add eggs; mix well. Add vanilla, salt, baking powder and milk. Work in about 3 1/2 cups flour to make a stiff dough. Roll out thin (about 1/4 inch); cut. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
