OLD FASHIONED TEA CAKES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. flavor
1 egg
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. buttermilk

Have all ingredients at room temperature. Cream together butter, Crisco, sugar and flavor. Add egg. Beat until fluffy. Add dry ingredients, stir until smooth. Blend in buttermilk. Drop by teaspoonful on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes. Yield: 5 1/2 dozen.
