FRUIT CAKE 
1 1/2 lbs. pitted dates
1/2 lb. candied pineapple
1/2 lb. candied cherries
1 1/2 lbs. walnuts
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 eggs
1/2 c. Karo dark syrup
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. Mazola or Crisco oil

Mix fruit and nuts. Sift dry ingredients. Mix eggs, Karo syrup, sugar and oil. Gradually beat in dry ingredients and pour over fruit mixture and mix. Firmly pack into well greased 10"x4" tube pan or 2 (1 lb.) loaf pans. Bake in 275 degree oven for 2 hours 15 minutes. After cooking, prick top in 6 places and pour cherry visnak or brandy over top. Wrap in foil and forget about it for 1 month.
