1 lb. golden raisins 2 1/4 c. water (from raisins) 1 lb. dates, cut up 1 c. flour 1 tbsp. shortening 32 maraschino cherries 4 1/2 c. flour 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 can crushed pineapple, juice included 1 c. nuts 4 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt Simmer raisins in water for 15 minutes. Drain and save water. Mix dates with hot raisins and 1 cup flour. Cream shortening, sugar, vanilla, and eggs. Add pineapple, cherries and nuts, flour, soda and salt. Mix real good, add raisin water, raisins and date mixture. Mix real good again. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes. Makes 5 small loaves. |
