BASIC PIE CRUST 
5 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 tbsp. vinegar

Mix together first flour ingredients by hand until mixture has the grain of corn meal. Then break egg into one-cup measuring cup and beat lightly. Add vinegar and fill to one-cup mark with cold water. Mix into the dough mixture. Roll dough out onto well-floured board (dough will be sticky). Makes five double shells.
