HEAVENLY BARS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/3 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. soft butter
2 envelopes Knox gelatin
1/2 c. water
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. maraschino cherries, cut up

Combine flour, brown sugar and butter. Press into 9x13 inch pan. Prick with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees oven for 10 minutes. Cool.

In large mixing bowl, sprinkle gelatin over 1/2 cup water. Let stand while in a saucepan. Put the other 1/2 cup water and 2 cups sugar, boil for 2 minutes. Pour slowly into gelatin, beating with electric mixer until holds a soft peak, 8-10 minutes. Fold in half of nuts and cherries. Spread on crust, top with nuts. Freezes well, keeps well.
