WHITE FRUIT CAKE 
1 lb. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 c. milk
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
5 c. flour
1 tsp. oil of lemon
1 c. candied cherries
2 c. pecans
1/2 lb. fruit for fruit cakes
1 1/2 lb. white raisins

Cream shortening, add sugar and eggs. Beat well. Add milk alternately with the dry ingredients. Add other ingredients. Bake 1 hour in slow oven 300 degrees. Before mixing use about 1 cup of flour and flour all fruit before mixing into cake.
