PUFFY FRENCH TOAST 
1/2 c. enriched flour
3/4 tsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
A pinch of ground cloves
1/2 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
5-6 slices white bread
Fat for deep frying

Stir together dry ingredients. Blend milk and egg; add to flour mixture and beat until smooth. Lightly dip bread slices into batter, coating both sides evenly. Fry in preheated 375 degree deep fat until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side. Drain. Serve hot. NOTE: Can be fried in a skillet with 1" fat. 3 servings.
