ITALIAN CREAM CAKE 
2 c. sugar
5 eggs, separated
1 stick of butter
1/2 c. Crisco
2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. angel flake coconut
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and butter and Crisco. Add egg beat well. Add soda to buttermilk and mix alternately with flour to sugar. Add coconut and nuts. Fold in beaten egg whites. Makes 3 layers, bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Can be baked in a sheet pan.

ICING:

1 (8 oz.) oz. of cream cheese
1/2 stick of butter
1 box powdered sugar
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream and spread.
