1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup shortening (butter flavored is better)
1 egg
1/2 cup milk

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add egg, shortening and milk. Mix together with pastry blender or blending fork. Mix until ingredients are well blended.

Grease a 12 cup muffin pan. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full.

Bake at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
