STREUSEL FILLED COFFEE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour once before measuring; then sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in shortening until mixture is like cornmeal. Blend in well-beaten egg, mixed with milk, then vanilla. Beat just enough to mix well.

Pour half the batter into well-greased and floured 6x10 inch pan. Sprinkle with half the Streusel mixture. Add the remaining batter and sprinkle rest of Streusel mixture over the top. Bake 25 to 30 minutes in 375 degree oven.

STREUSEL FILLING:

1/2 c. brown sugar, well packed
2 tbsp. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix sugar, flour and cinnamon. Blend in melted butter and stir in nuts. Mix well.
