STREUSEL FILLED COFFEE CAKE 
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 tbsp. plus 1 1/2 c. flour (all-purpose)
3 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. white sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. almond extract

Mix first 4 ingredients with 2 tablespoons flour and set aside. Sift dry ingredients together; cut in shortening. Blend in well beaten egg mixed with the milk. Add almond extract. Spread half the batter in a greased and floured 6 x 10 inch pan.

Sprinkle with half of the streusel mixture. Add remaining batter and sprinkle remaining streusel over top. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
