DATE FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. lard and butter
2 eggs
4 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour

FILLING:

1 1/2 c. dates or part raisins, ground
1 c. sugar
1 c. cold water

Cook until thick, then cool.

Roll out dough. Cut out 2 1/2 to 3 inch circle. Put filling, about 1 teaspoon, on one side of cut out dough, folding the other side over filling. Seal edges together. Bake 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
