SOFT PRETZELS 
1 cake yeast
3/4 tsp. salt
4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1 egg, well-beaten
Coarse salt

Soften yeast in warm water in large bowl. Add salt and sugar. Mix in flour, kneading. Make a smooth soft dough. DO NOT let rise.

Cut or pull off small pieces. Roll each piece into a rope, then twist into pretzel shape. Place on foil-covered cookie sheet that has been dusted with flour.

Bake at 350 degrees until light brown. Brush with beaten egg; sprinkle with coarse salt.
