1 c. miniature marshmallows
2 c. smashed, sweetened strawberries
1 pkg. (3 oz.) strawberry gelatin
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Generously grease bottom only of 9x13 baking pan. Sprinkle marshmallows evenly over bottom of greased pan.

Thoroughly combine the strawberries and gelatin and set aside.

In large mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, shortening, baking powder, salt, milk, vanilla and eggs. Blend at low speed until moistened; beat 3 minutes at medium speed, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Pour batter over marshmallows.

Spoon strawberry mixture evenly over batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
