FROSTY DATE BALLS 
1/2 c. soft butter
1/3 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. sifted all purpose flour
Dash salt
2/3 c. chopped pitted dates
1/2 c. chopped California walnuts

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Stir in water and vanilla. Add flour and salt. Mix well. Stir in dates and nuts. Roll in 1" balls. Place 2 1/2" apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in slow oven, 300 degrees, about 20 minutes or until cookies are set but not brown. While warm, roll in confectioners' sugar. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
