RYE BREAD | |
2 1/2 c. water 1/4 c. powdered milk 4 tbsp. molasses 1/2 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. lard 2 tsp. salt 1 pkg. dry yeast 1 1/2 c. rye flour 4 1/2 c. white flour In bowl put 2 1/2 cups water, not too hot, add 1/4 cup powdered milk, molasses, brown sugar, lard and salt. Make sure above mixture is lukewarm, then add yeast. Let stand a few minutes. Stir in flours, add enough to make it workable; knead. Put in greased bowl, cover and put in warm place. Let rise until double. Knead and let rise again. Make into two loaves and put in greased 9 5/8" x 5 1/2" x 2 3/4" bread pans. Let rise until double. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from pans. |
