APPLE CRISP WITH TOPPING
6 to 8 c. sliced apples
2 tbsp. lemon juice

Slice apples and put into water with the lemon juice to keep them from turning brown. (Use any good cooking apple; we use Granny Smith apples, as they cook done easily.) Red or Gold Delicious do not do well in this recipe.

Topping:

1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. quick oats
1 1/8 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. melted butter

Melt butter and add flour and oats. Mix well. I usually end up using my hands to get it all mixed well. Then add the sugar, salt and cinnamon and mix well. It will be crumbly.

Put well-drained apples in a greased 9 x 13 pan and sprinkle a little sugar on top of them. (This makes the Apple Crisp a little sweeter.) Then sprinkle the topping over top of the apples to cover them.

Bake in a 375°F oven for 30 minutes or until apples are tender.

Note: To keep the topping "crisp" do not cover tightly. Can serve warm with ice cream or any other way you like. Happy eating!
