CHOCOLATE CHIP BLONDE BROWNIES | |
2/3 c. shortening 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar 2 tbsp. hot water 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 c. chopped pecans 1 c. chocolate chips Melt shortening in medium saucepan. Remove from heat. Add brown sugar and mix well. Stir in 2 tablespoons hot water. Cool slightly. Add eggs and vanilla and beat with spoon until well mixed. Add dry ingredients and mix. Stir in chopped pecans. Spread batter in a greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until done (make sure brownies are firm in the center of the pan before you remove them from the oven, or they will be mushy after they are cool). Cool completely. Cut into squares. |
