DAD'S FAVORITE FUDGE | |
5 tbsp. cocoa powder 2 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1/4 tsp. salt 4 tbsp. butter 2 tsp. vanilla 1 tbsp. light corn syrup Grease 8 x 8 pan. Combine all ingredients except butter and vanilla. Stir to blend. Set over low heat, stirring slowly; bring to a boil. Cover pot and let boil 2 to 3 minutes. Uncover and brush sides of pot with pastry brush dipped in cold water. Continue to boil slowly without stirring until syrup reaches soft-ball stage (235°F). Remove from heat. Add butter. Do not stir. Set pot on rack to cool. Do not stir until syrup is lukewarm. Add vanilla and stir until just before it thickens. Pour into pan. Chill. When firm, cut into squares. Can add walnuts with vanilla. |
