MAKE - AHEAD HAMBURGER MIX | |
4 lbs. ground chuck 1 c. onion, chopped 1 (14 oz.) bottle ketchup 1 c. water 1/2 c. celery, chopped 1/4 c. lemon juice 2 tbsp. brown sugar 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp. salt 2 tsp. vinegar 1/2 tsp. dry mustard Cook meat and onion until brown; drain. Add remaining ingredients and heat to boiling, stirring frequently. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Cool. Divide among five one-pint freezer containers. For Sloppy Joes: Thaw, heat with 8 ounce can tomato sauce and 3 tablespoons brown sugar (per pint). For Mini Pizzas: Heat with Italian seasonings. Spread on toasted, split hamburger buns (or English muffins). Top with grated Cheddar or Mozzarella cheese and heat in oven until cheese is melted. |
