"HERMAN" STARTER 
1 tbsp. dry yeast
2 tsp. sugar or honey
1/2 c. warm water
2 1/2 c. white flour
2 c. warm water

Mix together the yeast and 1/2 cup warm water until yeast is dissolved. Add rest of ingredients in large crock or glass jar. DO NOT USE A METAL CONTAINER. Cover with a damp cloth and rubber band and keep at room temperature for 5 days. Now "Herman" can be refrigerated stirring daily.

1 c. milk
1 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar

Put in large covered bowl or he'll bubble all over the refrigerator. Bake "Herman" on the 10th day using 2 cups of mixture. Save 1 cup for next time and give 1 cup to a friend.
