ROLLED CABBAGE OR STUFFED
CABBAGE

1 (5 lb.) lg. head cabbage or 2 med. ones
Salted water & vinegar
1 lb. hamburger
2 onions
Salt pork
3/4 c. long grain rice
1 tbsp. butter
Tomato juice or tomato soup
3 or 4 pieces bacon
1/2 stick butter

Cook rice so it is half cooked. Remember to rinse rice well before cooking, and while cooking rice put a tablespoon of butter so rice will absorb all butter and water. Do not place too much water into rice. Once it is cooked PARTLY - set aside covered.

Cook cabbage until limp in a little salted water and a little vinegar. Once cabbage is cooking, fry a couple of onions in a little salt pork mixed with butter. You can also fry hamburger in it. When all frying is done, mix all together - hamburger and rice.

Take one cabbage leaf and place about a heaping spoonful of mixture into it and roll it as if rolling a package. Keep placing it in a pan. When all is done, put some tomato juice on it or tomato soup mixed with water, and about 3 or 4 pieces of bacon on top to give nice flavor, also 1/2 stick of butter on it or bacon fat.

Put it in the oven at 350 degrees for one hour. Then check and if not done, add more minutes until it is done. Make sure you have liquid in the rolled cabbage so it will not burn. Should it evaporate, add boiling bouillon on it. You can take the cover off when Golombki are done and let it brown a little in the oven.

"SMACZNIEGO" - very tasty!
