SALISBURY STEAK 
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
2 c. sm. dry bread cubes
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can Franco-American mushroom gravy

Mix thoroughly all ingredients except gravy. Shape into 6 oblong patties. In skillet, brown patties in shortening, as needed. Pour off fat. Add gravy. Cover; simmer 20 minutes, stirring. 6 servings.
