1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tsp. maraschino cherry juice
3/4 tsp. almond extract
few drops of red food coloring
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup Maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
48 Hershey's Kisses (unwrapped!)

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In large bowl, combine butter, confectioners' sugar, cherry juice, almond extract and food coloring. Blend well. Add flour, salt and cherries and mix well. Form dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and immediately press a Hershey's Kiss into each while they are still soft.

Makes 48 Valentine Kisses.
