1 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sm. gum drops
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cut gum drops in half and set aside. Mix sugars and shortening; add eggs and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients together; add to sugar mixture then stir in gum drops and nuts. Drop by tablespoonfuls on cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes.

Makes 4 dozen cookies.
