SUGARLESS CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening, partly butter
1 tsp. flavorings, 2 tsp. orange rind with 1/2 lemon is very good
1 1/3 c. white corn syrup
2 1/4 c. cake flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 lg. eggs
1/2 c. milk

Cream shortening just until it will hold the syrup, add flavoring and beat well. Sift all dry ingredients. Stir 1/4 dry mix into creamed mix, blend in egg yolks beaten to a lemon color. Stir in remaining dry ingredients alternately with milk. Beat egg whites and fold in mixture gently. Bake in two layer pans in a moderate oven.
