CINNAMON - SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE | |
1/2 c. butter 1 c. sugar 2 eggs, unbeaten 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. sour cream TOPPING: 1/2 c. chopped walnuts 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 c. sugar Mix all topping ingredients together. Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time; then the vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture; mix thoroughly. Add sour cream LAST; mix well. Spread half of batter in well greased tube pan. Sprinkle half of topping over batter; then add the rest of the batter. Top with remaining topping. Sprinkle lightly with water. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. For an Apple-Cream Coffee Cake, prepare as above but after spreading half of the batter in well greased tube pan, add the following as a topping over the batter before adding the walnut topping: 1 pared, cored, thinly sliced medium apple. |
