SCALLOPED POTATOES | |
4 c. thinly sliced raw potatoes 2 tbsp. flour 1 1/2 tsp. salt Pepper to taste 2 c. milk 2 tbsp. butter 4 tbsp. minced onion Put a layer of potatoes in a greased baking dish and sprinkle with some of the flour, salt, pepper and minced onion. Repeat until all the potatoes are used. Pour milk over potatoes and dot with butter. The milk may be heated to speed the cooking. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove cover and continue baking until potatoes are tender, about 30 more minutes. If the potatoes are not brown enough on top, place the uncovered dish under the broiler for 3 to 5 minutes. Makes 8 servings. You may wish to use this recipe the day after Easter. Cube leftover ham and sprinkle over each layer of potatoes. Place thin slices of cheese on top. |
