CHOCOLATE NUT BARS 
1/2 lb. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 to 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
3/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. light brown sugar
2 c. flour
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream butter in mixing bowl; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix flour and salt, sift, gradually add to creamed mixture. Spread evenly in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch buttered baking pan.

Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. While hot, sprinkle on chocolate chips; allow to melt. Spread chocolate with spatula evenly over the top; sprinkle with nuts. Cool in pan on wire rack; cut into bars. Makes about 32 bars.
