VANILLA SAUCE 
1 c. white or brown sugar
1/2 c. butter (1/4 c. is okay)
1/2 c. cream or half and half
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine all ingredients except vanilla in top of double boiler. Bring to boil and simmer gently. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Keep sauce warm over hot water until ready to serve.
