1/3 c. brown sugar, packed 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped 1 c. flour 1/3 c. butter, melted FILLING: 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1/4 c. sugar 1 egg 1 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tbsp. cream or milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 c. red chopped glazed cherries 1/4 c. green chopped glazed cherries Mix brown sugar, chopped nuts and flour together in large bowl. Stir in the melted butter and mix with hands until light and crumbly. Remove 1 cup of mixture to be used later as topping. Place remainder in an 8-inch square pan and press firmly. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 to 15 minutes. FILLING: Beat cream cheese until smooth with 1/4 cup sugar. Beat in the egg, lemon juice, milk, vanilla and red and green chopped cherries. Pour this into the baked crust. Top with the reserved crumbs. Return to a 350 degree oven and bake for about 25 minutes. Cool thoroughly, then cut into 2-inch squares. |
