I have been making a version of these for years. I use a mixture of any kind of cereal, dried fruit nuts roasted soy nuts. The possibilities are endless. I make my own nuts and bolts so always have lots of leftover bits of cereal. It's a great way to use it up and you can make it healthier by using cereals with less sugar and adding protein and fruit

I am going to purchase a pack of dried candied pecans and cranberries (as used in salads)... will try that... Then thinking ahead - and try a "dry" pack of a favorite pudding mix... Almost anything could be stirred into the melted marshmallows. Thank you for this simple recipe... that has SO many options!

I add 1/2 cup peanut butter and use Multigrain Cheerios and my kids (and I) like them better than rice crispie treats.. They don't last long in our house!!

I've substituted a cereal called Honey Graham Oh's (available at Rite Aid;look in their dollar isle-comes in yellow box) for Cheerios,as well as peanut butter with melted chocolate atop-yum!,tastes just like s'mores!

Considering that a Snickers bar has 250 Calories and 12g of fat, with virtually no nutritional value (other a little bit of protein, calcium, and iron), I'll take these HEALTHIER alternatives any day of the week. Has Vit A, C, D, B6, B12, potassium, etc, just to name a few. Lighten up people!! These are awesome!

Jeez, anything with corn syrup (marshmallows are virtually all corn syrup) cannot be healthy. But we all need a vice or two, don't we? Was wondering if anyone tried making krispies with other cereals that turned out bad. I was assuming the cereal needed to be light, airy and crispy to work. Do flake cereals and granolas work well?

These are excellent. Always have to have at least a few Debbie Downers in the bunch.
