1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar and shortening; cream. Add egg and beat well. Sift baking powder, salt and flour together. Add to shortening and beat well with the milk and vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
