CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZELS
Pretzels
Semi-sweet morsels

Heat semi-sweet chocolate chips in a double boiler or heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth.

To microwave, place chocolate in a microwave proof dish and melt 1/2-1 cup chips on medium (50%) 3-4 1/2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Dip pretzels with a fork and remove to wax paper. Refrigerate uncovered until chocolate is firm, about 30 minutes. Store, loosely covered in a cool, dry place or freeze in an airtight container.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

How long can they be kept in a deep freeze? We are planning to make them for my daughter's wedding and would like to make them ahead of time if possible.

I was really happy to find this recipe. I love chocolate covered pretzels, but to buy them already done can be pretty pricey. This recipe will help me to enjoy something I love to snack on and not hurt the pocketbook.

When you melt the bag of semi sweet chocolates, the mixture can be thick. If you add a stick of butter and melt the chocolate and butter togther, it's alot creamier and easier to dip the pretzels in.

Adding a tablespoon of Crisco thins the chocolate out and also prevents the chocolate turning 'chalky' once it hardens. This is a great recipe to do with kids - although it is messy! :)
