ICE CREAM SANDWICHES 
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box chocolate cake mix
1/2 gal. brick ice cream

Beat egg, shortening, butter, vanilla and half of cake mix (dry) until smooth. Stir remaining cake mix in next. Divide batter into 4 equal parts. Roll out on pastry board to rectangles 10 x 6 inches. Cut into rectangles 3 x 2 1/2 inches. Bake at 400 degrees about 8 to 10 minutes. Cool. Cut rectangles of brick ice cream. Make sandwiches of cookie and ice cream. Cover with foil and freeze.
