CORN MEAL CAKES 
3/4 c. corn meal
6 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. sugar
1 c. milk
1 egg, well beaten
1 tbsp. oil

Sift dry ingredients together. Combine milk, egg and oil. Stir quickly to blend ingredients. Drop by 1/4 cup measures onto hot griddle, about 400 degrees. When cakes have risen and have bubbles on top, turn and cook on other side.
