1 c. starter 1 1/2 c. lukewarm water 1/2 c. vegetable oil 1 tbsp. salt 1 tbsp. sugar 6 c. bread flour Add water, oil, sugar and salt to starter in a large mixing bowl. Add 2 cups flour and mix, then add remaining flour. Mix well and let set (covered) all night. The next morning divide into 2 loaves and place in greased loaf pans. Let raise 4-5 hours or longer. This bread will raise very little as it bakes. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. For Whole Wheat Bread use 2 cups whole wheat flour and 4 cups bread flour. TO FEED STARTER: After you use 1 cup of starter feed it with the following: 3 tbsp. potato flakes (instant) 1 c. warm water Mix and let set on counter all day. Then store in refrigerator until you make bread again. You would make bread about every 7 days. |
