CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER BARS | |
1/2 c. granulated sugar 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1/2 c. peanut butter 1 egg 2 tbsp. water 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips FUDGE FROSTING: 1/2 c. shortening 2 c. sugar 2/3 c. milk 1/2 tsp. salt 3 oz. unsweetened chocolate 2 tsp. vanilla Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix sugars, shortening, peanut butter and egg. Stir in water, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips. Spread in greased baking pan 13x9x2 inches. Bake about 20 minutes. Spread with fudge frosting while warm. Cut into bars, 1 1/2 x 1 inch. Fudge Frosting: Mix all ingredients except vanilla in 2 1/2 quart saucepan. Heat to rolling boil, stirring occasionally. Boil 1 minute without stirring. Place pan of frosting in bowl of ice and water. Beat frosting until smooth and of spreading consistency. Stir in vanilla. |
