2 c. sugar
1 pkg. dates, chopped
1 c. pecans, chopped
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Enough milk to moisten sugar. Cook to soft ball. Remove from heat; add dates. Beat until hard enough to stand up when dropped from a spoon. Add nuts, vanilla and salt; mix well. Roll candy in long roll and wrap in wet towel. Let stand until cold and hard enough to slice.
