WASHINGTON APPLE PIE | |
1 tbsp. lemon juice 1 tbsp. cinnamon candies, crushed 1/3 c. raw honey 1 tsp. cinnamon 3 1/2 Gravenstein or other baking apples, thinly sliced 1 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. half & half Crust: Unbaked 9 inch double crust Heat oven to 450 degrees. For filling heat lemon juice in small saucepan. Add candy. Stir until dissolved. Stir in honey and cinnamon. Arrange apples in unbaked pie shell. Drizzle with honey mixture. Dot with butter. Moisten pastry edge with water. Cover with top crust. Fold top edge under bottom crust. Flute with fingers or fork. Cut slits or design in top crust or prick with fork for escape of steam. Brush with half & half. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Cool until barely warm or to room temperature before serving. |
