SOURDOUGH BREAD 
1 c. sourdough starter (room temperature)
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 1/2 c. warm water (110-115 degrees)
5 1/2-6 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Dissolve yeast in water in a large bowl. Stir in salt, sugar, starter, and 2 1/2 cups flour. Mix the soda and 2 1/2 cups flour together and stir into sourdough mixture.

Knead dough on floured surface for 6-8 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Put in an oiled bowl. Turn once; cover and let rise until doubled (1-1 1/2 hours). Punch down.

Divide in half. Let set 10 minutes, covered. Put each in a 9 x 14 oblong loaf pan. Cut top of dough with scissors 4 times. Cover and let rise until double (about 1 hour). Bake at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
