TOMATO SOUP 
1 qt. tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. chopped onion (optional)
4 c. milk
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. cooked shells or macaroni

Use canned frozen or fresh tomatoes. Saute onion in butter and add to boiling tomatoes, if desired. Add salt and sugar. When tomatoes are cooked, remove from burner and stir in baking soda. Stir in milk and butter. Return to burner, reheat. Do not boil. Add cooked macaroni.
