BREAKFAST CAKE | |
1 lb. raisins 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 3 c. water 2 tbsp. Crisco or butter 4 c. flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg Boil together raisins, sugar, salt, Crisco or butter and water for 5 minutes. Cool completely. Add liquid mixture to flour, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg; mix well. Pour into 2 greased and floured Pyrex loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for at least 1 hour until done in the center. Remove immediately from pans. (After it is cooled completely, it can be kept at room temperature, refrigerated or frozen for later use.) |
