1/2 c. chopped green pepper 1/2 c. chopped onion 1/2-1 lb. ground meat 1 lb. can tomatoes (I use Del Monte Italian style stewed tomatoes) 6 oz. can tomato paste 1 sm. can tomato sauce 1/4-1/2 c. water 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1-2 bay leaves 1/2 lb. plain noodles 1/2 lb. cheese, sliced Parmesan cheese In oil, saute green pepper and onion until tender. Add ground meat and cook until brown. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste and sauce, water, salt, pepper and bay leaves. (May add tiny bit of sugar.) Cook noodles according to package directions. In a 2 quart casserole, arrange alternate layers of noodles, meat mixture and cheese. Sprinkle with shredded Parmesan cheese. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. |
