DILL PICKLES 
Cucumbers
Canning salt
Heads of dill
Alum powder
Salt
1 c. white vinegar in each jar
Cold water

Soak washed cucumbers in salt water overnight (1/2 cup canning salt to a peck of cucumbers).

Have jars ready. Put cucumbers in jars, then a head of dill, 1/8 teaspoon or small lump of alum, 1 teaspoon salt and a head of dill on top. Pour 1 cup white vinegar in jar and fill with cold water. Put covers on.

These will not "work". The seal will hold.
