FRENCH BREAKFAST PUFFS 
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. of milk
1/2 c. of sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
6 tbsp. butter melted

In mixer bowl, cream together the first 1/2 cup of sugar, shortening, and the eggs.

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg, add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.

Fill 12 greased muffin pans 2/3 full. Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Combine the remaining sugar and cinnamon. Remove muffins from oven immediately and dip muffins in melted butter, then in the cinnamon sugar mixture until coated. Serve warm. Makes 12 muffins.
