FRENCH BREAKFAST PUFFS 
1/3 c. soft shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. milk

Topping:

6 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix thoroughly the shortening, sugar and egg. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Stir in alternately with milk. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full.

Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown. Immediately roll in melted butter and mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Serve hot.

Makes 12 medium muffins.
